Listening to: Sick of It All
Eating: Riverside Pizza
seeing how i promised to make a journal way back on Halloween...here it is from my blatant absence and what little will i have on coming on to here. and i seriously mean it!
first off, DragonCon this year was amazing and unexpected. i ended up getting sick right at the start! getting the con crud early and almost didn't enjoy the first two days. but somehow, my fever broke. i was still under the weather but this is possibly the closest thing to ever happen when i get the crud after, during, or on rare occasions, before a convention. but i was glad to pull thru and continue on having fun...despite my sickness again!
during the con, i ran into one of my oldest high school friend and band mate, Adam. i haven't seen or heard from him since college and i didn't expect to run into him out of nowhere because he was next to a cosplayer who i was going to ask for a picture of. it was a great reunion for us both. he had disappeared off the earth after our hiatus/disbandment of our band we co-founded and the band we used to play in. what a great reunion that was.
another unexpected reunion which i only mentioned to a few ppl is a former middle school friend who i once had a crush on long time ago. i ran into her on a Saturday night at the con after updating my parking pass. she was drunk as hell and from there, i wanted to get away from her so badly. long story short, i confess my crush to her, she wanted me to change for her sake, i couldn't promise her proposal, she stop talking to me despite her statement of maintaining our friendship. right up to moving on to high school i never saw her again. as much i hate recognizing her immediately of who she was, she ended up spilling out her love is in complete turmoil despite her success career as a business broker. i honestly didn't feel sorry because several weeks later, she's back to her "happy" self. she's not the person i thought she was long time ago, for that, i no longer see her as a friend at all.
overall, DragonCon was the most exciting but the most painstaking con i ever endured. mainly because last year, i got sick and missed out the last two days. this year, i made it thru and accomplish my goal of enjoying the whole 4 day event. can't wait for next year!
second, AWA! before the con, there were a lot of talk and rumors about AWA that was demeaning the con and pointing out last year's negative criticism. i didn't know about this until ppl make complaints about it and i ended up forgetting all of that when i was worrying about getting a room and extra ppl to pay less on the rooming charge which i ended up paying more. but it was worth it since this year's event was very relaxing. for the first time in a long time, i actually enjoy my time and manage to accomplish certain goals i promised to do during the con. some i didn't get to meet my expectation but the rest was well worth it!
i got to meet up with chat with ppl that i never spoke much on my facebook or in real life. that was very rewarding to actually meet those who i've only known online instead of meeting them face to face. granted, there is a staggering amount of ppl i want to see and manage to meet certain ones who i haven't had the privilege to say hello properly. i know there's a lot more of you out there but i will do my best to have some one on one conversation.
another goal was to let go of the other things that have since strained me from enjoying the con was stop taking videos or pictures. i've been so intent on getting many photos as i can but it was a right mixture balance on relaxing and taking pictures. the videos however, i pretty much didn't care to film much at all. seriously! it's been a tradition for me to constantly keep this up but thru out the previous times, i just finally started to get a bit bored and finally say, "to hell with it! i'm enjoying myself!" still, i take any shots whenever i can. who knows, i'll probably get back into recording anything since everybody is doing their own cosplay music video. another reason to do so. lol
but yeah, AWA has been the most relaxing event for me. some ppl are complaining about there problems with the con. especially the fire alarm incident. that has never happened before and it threw the staff into chaos which i had to snake my way out since i didn't want to get kick out at the far end of the building where i had to walk a longer mile to get back to my hotel. it's a good thing i've been at the con for a long time to know which way to go. but other then that, the con was awesome!
so there you have it! my aftermath of having a time of my life from these two cons. can't wait for next year and so and so! i'll probably make another journal with video links of the cons. if you want, go to my youtube channel and see it for yourself. until then, that's all i have to say.
